We
recently received a grant to create a science exploration experience
with hands-on activities; working alongside college faculty and more
advanced STEM students. We call this
the “Discover STEM” project and are currently looking for students
interested in participating. Students who have taken little or no
science classes in high school are particularly encouraged to apply.
If you are accepted into the project, you will be able to:
- Choose a project of your liking among three different ones in the areas of biology, geology, and astronomy
- Work on your project in a small group alongside college faculty members and advanced college level science students
- Participate in a field trip at the end of the project
- Display your project on the Phoenix College campus
- Receive a certificate of completion recognizing the project you worked on
The discover STEM project will start on the week of March 6 and finish the week of April 27th.
Expect to spend about 3 hours every week working with faculty and other students on the PC campus on Friday afternoons. There are no tests involved.
Because the grant is covering all the expenses, it won’t cost you a dime!
If you are interested, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page at: http://pcstem.com/discover- stem/.

Dear Honors Community,
Particle Fever - Science and Popcorn Film Series - this weekGet
a front row seat to our generation's most significant and inspiring
scientific breakthrough as it happens. The film follows six brilliant
scientists during the launch of the Large Hadron Collider, marking the
start-up of the biggest and most expensive experiment in the history of

scientists from over 100 countries join forces in pursuit of a single
goal: to recreate conditions that existed just moments after the Big
Bang and find the Higgs boson, potentially explaining the origin of all
matter. Particle Fever is a celebration of discovery, revealing the very human stories behind the tale of this epic experiment. Hotspot opportunity.
